Admission

The admission to different courses (available in the college) is made as per admission rules provided by the Govt. of Wesat Bengal, Higher Education Department and Vidyasagar University. This year college is going to introduce the online admission system for the admission of 1st year students.

Eligibility

  • In case of Board/Council other than W.B.C.H.S.E., a candidate shall have to pass in five [four, where applicable] recognised subjects of full marks not being less than 100 out of which one shall be English. For them the merit point will be calculated converting their % of marks into 500.
  • Marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing H.S. (10+2) Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under old system, marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to determine the aggregate marks.
  • Marks obtained in Environmental Education as a compulsory subject at the H.S. (10+2) Examination conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent shall not be taken into account for calculation of the aggregate marks in top five subjects for the purpose of admission.
  • No candidate shall be considered for admission after a lapse of more than 3 (three) years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognised regular courses of study after passing the previous qualifying examination.
    Explanation : An applicant passed H.S. (10+2) level in the year (2014/2015/2016) is eligible to apply for B.A. Course in this college.
  • The candidates qualifying the vocational courses can apply for general degree courses only.

Merit Point = X+Y
X = 10 percent of marks in aggregate in the 10+2 level exam taking 5 best marks among all the subjects excluding the marks of Environmental Studies.
Y= percentage of marks in applied subject as Honours, If that subject is not studied, considers the marks of one subject as indicated in the table.

Note that if more candidates score same merit point, preference will be given to higher Y, in this way, if more candidates have same merit points and same Y, preference will be given to higher marks in relevant subject in H.S.

Admission to all Honours/General courses will be strictly on the basis of eligibility criteria and merit.
Applicants must produce the following documents in original at the time of admission and attach Xeroxed self attested copies of these documents with the printout of the Application Form at the time of application form submission :

  • Mark sheet of the H.S. or equivalent examination.
  • Admit card of the H.S. or equivalent examination.
  • Admit Card of Madhyamik or Equivalent Examination (Document showing the date of birth of the applicant).
  • Caste Certificate.
  • School Leaving Certificate.
  • Transfer certificate and University permission/Migration certificate in case the applicant already admitted in another college.
  • A letter from the guardian mentioning the name and address of a local guardian in case of an outstation applicant.
  • One copy stamp size colour photograph to be affixed in printout of the online from.
  • Applicant’s and College’s copy of Bank Challan.

45% marks in aggregate or 50% marks in the subject applied for or related subjects (TABLE-A)* at the previous qualifying examination. Applicant must qualify the H.S. or equivalent examination. No candidate shall be considered for admission after a lapse of more than 3 (three) years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognised regular courses of study after passing the previous qualifying examination.
Explanation
The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
The candidates qualifying the vocational courses can apply for general degree courses only.

  • For each Honours course two general subjects must have to be taken as subject combination.
  • For each General course three subjects must have to be taken as subject combination.
